Contemporary green morocco cloth, later cloth spine label, spine and covers darkened, with attribution (“by Philip Richards”) inked to title-page in the author’s hand, a few leaves bound crooked with loss to text at fore-edge, soiled; good plus. Ono 172; James & Smith 307; Summers, p. 372. Provenance: Phillip Richards (his signature, title-page) and by descent to his daughter, Millie Stavordale (her signature to front pastedown).

With a note in the author’s hand beneath the title, “by Philip Richards.” Bracebridge Hemyng wrote most of the Jack Harkaway series, though Richards is thought to have authored at least two numbers.
