Of the first poem, Osler remarks that it is an "elaborate allegorical description of the human body, with anatomical notes ... " The "Piscatory Eclogues" have a separate title and pagination, and "the inner meaning of the poem, is rather amorous than piscatorial", according to Westwood & Satchell.
