A very interesting legal association. Levy (1929-1995) was a legal scholar and teacher whose speciality was constitutional law and the U.S. Supreme Court. He was also great admirer of, and expert on, the decisions of Justice Benjamin Cardozo, who served from 1932-1938. Black, nominated to the Supreme Court by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1937 to 1971. Cardozo and Black differed famously over the issue of whether the 14th Amendment “incorporated” the Bill of Rights and made it binding upon the states.
