Sylvia Fine, wife of Danny Kaye, was also a talented composer and lyricist, who, often behind the scenes, managed her husband's career and created many of the special songs for him. For the film ON THE RIVIERA, Fine contributed "Rhythm Of A New Romance", "Popo The Puppet", and "Happy Ending; Kaye and Fine received $50,000 for her work, which, under the terms of a 1940 contract between the two, was to be split between them.
