Minor wear at edges and corners, some very light occasional soiling, generally a very good, sound, clean copy. Early ownership signatures of Thomas Lloyd (title and verso) and that of Mary Hunt (verso of title); 19th-century bookplate with motto "Le Bon Temps Viendra" Wing H-225; Golier/Elliot 13.

First edition of these devotional treatises by the famous jurist, containing the first appearance of his "Poems upon Christmas Day" (pp. 91-118 of part 2). The celebration of Christmas, having recently been outlawed under Cromwell, had just been reinstituted with the Restoration.
