"Cusen,

This comes to aquaint (sic) you that thro the goodness of God we are all well I present + hope that this will find you with your wife + children in the enjoyment of the Like Blessing. I have sent you enclosed a note of Mr. John Gold merchant whitch (sic) should be glad that you would get for me + send it by the first opportunity as it is not Large or I would come down myself Don’t fail to get it as soon as you can for here is several that are coming to get money of him and in so doing you will oblige your friend John Stone"

John Stone (1728-1791) son of Elias Stone and Abigail Waters, was born in Charlestown, MA. He removed to Newburyport prior to 1766, where he was a cooper by trade. He married Sarah Miller (1730-1803) and had 12 children.
