Liverpool a noted statesman was an advocate for the revision of the Military Act which he found to be outdated. He believed that a National Militia was the only reliable defence for a nation, emphasizing that it would not affect adversely the commerce and trade of the country contrary to many beliefs. The “Advertisement” leaf notes that the book is reprinted from the 1757 edition without change or addition and is republished due to its timeliness.
