Adriaan David van der Gon Netscher was a member of the Netscher family, a Dutch military family that traces its heritage back to the 1600s.
Adriaan David was a naval officer honorably discharged in 1848 and a member of the Court of Police in British Guyana, where he painted this striking little watercolor of the Public Building.
