Rare little collection of amusing essays by this controversial professor at the University of Halle, who has been called the Thersites of Literature, and is perhaps best remembered for his literary feud with Lessing which led to the latter's ANTIQUARISCHE BRIEFE.
As an example of the author's interests, Chapter IV is entitled "Descriptio Philosophi qui Totam Vitam Ignotus et Pauper Egit atque Fame tandem Periit" ["Account of a Philosopher who Spent his Whole Life in Poverty and Obscurity, yet in the end Died Famous"].
