Lady Munnings regularly carried a Pekinese dog, named Black Knight, in a handbag with a window especially made for him. The dog even went - uninvited - to Princess Elizabeth's wedding in Westminster Abbey in 1947. When it was at Newmarket, the dog was let out after the horses had passed. “Only a few inches big, he runs round yapping defiantly at everyone. They say he has acquired that little trait from Munnings himself.”.
