Young beneath on the front free-flyleaf - a rare inscription of this vintage, on Cather's important fourth book, her first with publisher McClure. Young (1848-1914) was the U.S. Judge of the Western District of Pennsylvania. Cather had been living in Pittsburgh with Isabelle McClung, the daughter of a prominent Pittsburgh judge.
