Published the year after the first edition, the work begins with a historical overview before describing the authors travels on the island. Oddly enough, three translations of Gregorovius' work on Corsica (1853) were published in 1855: Muir's; Russell Martineau's (Longman's); and Edward J. Morris' (Phila., Parry).
