Item #210516

A fine color lithographic reproduction of a Munnings oil painting, showing the unsaddling area behind the stands at the great English track. On its expanse of green grass, viewed by spectators behind a railing at the left, four horses stand with their trainers after a race, as their jockeys, in colorful racing silks and carrying their saddles, move off. The horses display the usual post-race restiveness, adding animation to the scene, and beneath a vast sunlit sky the green fields and low blue hills of southern England stretch to the horizon. A superb image by Britain's premier equestrain painter and a president of the Royal Academy.
