Feutry was able, with a clear conscience, to attribute thus to a so-called ‘professor of the Sorbonne’ two works whose authors were probably known to him…”. Cardinal Gerdil’s work first appeared in 1779; the second work by Fromageot and Morin, two lawyers, first appeared anonymously in 1753.
