Will Hicock Low (1853-1932) born in Albany, NY worked both in the U.S. and in France. He was a student of Gérome and Carolus Duran (also teacher of John Singer Sargent), and while in Paris he exhibited at the Salons of 1876-1877. Low returned to the U.S. in 1877 and exhibited at the the National Academy in 1878. He was a member of the Society of American Artists
