A superb rendering of New York's City Hall, seen through a distance of trees and pedestrians, flanked by other buildings under a delicate blue and white sky. Joseph Pennell (1860-1926) painter and etcher, was particularly noted for his cityscapes, particularly those of his native Philadelphia and of New York. This is a late drawing, lighter and freer in spirit than much of his etched work. AN ELEGANT AND PLEASING EXAMPLE OF PENNELL'S ART.
