On a peerless summer morning a small boy sets out along the Palisades for a day of fishing on the Hudson. William Rickarby Miller ( 1818-1893) was born in England and emigrated to America in 1844, making his home in New York City. He was noted for his landscape paintings and watercolors, as well as his illustrations for books and periodicals. He was mostly occupied during the last twenty years of his life in the execution of pen and ink sketches for his project "1000 Gems of American Landscape." Provenance: Private English Collection.
