Herbert George Wells was an English writer who wrote in various genres including history, politics, textbooks, rules for war games, and on social commentary. He is highly praised for his works in science fiction, often being named the father of the field, for his works The War of the Worlds, The Time Machine, The Invisible Man, and The Island of Doctor Moreau. His other notable works include The First Men in the Moon, and The Shape of Things to Come
