T.E. Lawrence

1888 - 1935

Thomas Edward Lawrence was a British army officer and archaeologist who is most noted for his role during the Palestine and Sinai campaign, and the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Turkish rule in 1916-18. His great ability to translate his associations and experiences into writing earned him the name Lawrence of Arabia. His most noted account is the Seven Pillars of Wisdom (1922), which is his autobiographical narrative of being a liaison officer during the Arab Revolt with rebel forces.
