Winston Churchill was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. Churchill was also a historian, artist, and writer and won the 1953 Nobel Prize for Literature. As a writer he produced a novel, two biographies, three volumes of memoirs, and several histories. Two of his most famous works include: The Second World War and A History of the English-Speaking Peoples. In 2002, the BBC program 100 Greatest Britons ranked him in first place.
