Robert Burns was a Scottish poet and lyricist who is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and is classified as a proto-Romantic poet. His original compositions are still used yearly as the unofficial national anthem of the Scotland. His well known songs and poems include "A Red, Red Rose", "A Man's a Man for A' That", "To a Louse", "To a Mouse", "Halloween", "The Battle of Sherramuir", "Tam o'Shanter", and "Ae Fond Kiss".
