Engraved frontispiece to each volume. 8 vols. 12mo, London: A. Donaldson, 1766. Later edition. Contemporary red straight-grained morocco, gilt-rolled borders, richly gilt spines in six compartments with raised bands, black leather labels, a.e.g. . A little rubbing to joints, a couple of labels chipped, but a very pretty set in this contemporary binding.

"The Spectator" was originally published in 635 numbers, 1711-1714. Addison contributed 274 numbers, and Steele 236, with additional contributions by others including Pope, and possibly Swift. This is a fine and attractive set, in contemporary binding
