“liquor-selling ruffians attack Railroad Man”

A. L. O. C

The Story of a Dark Plot; or Tyranny in the Frontier [Introduction by J. H. F]

Frontispiece portrait. 8vo, Boston: The Warren Press, 1903. Original aubergine cloth. Some light rubbing and fading, else a very good copy.

This concerns the attempted murder of W. W. Smith, Agent of the Canadian Pacific Railroad Company at Sutton Junction and longtime President of the Brome County Branch of the Dominion Alliance. Gives the history and background of the case, the court actions and the “liquor selling ruffians” involved. Apparently an “American liquor seller” had hired a Marlboro, Mass. bartender to remove Smith
