Inscribed on the title-page, “To JH Rosny / from his friend George Moore.” In the list of his other works on the title page Moore has corrected “A Humorous Wife” to “A Mummer’s Wife,” and has made a correction to p. 195. J.H. Rosny is the pseudonym of brothers Joseph and Séraphin Boex. Together they wrote novels on speculative and prehistoric subjects (such as the well-known La Guerre du feu), and they are considered among the founders of modern science fiction
