Acknowledging birthday wishes from the Archbishop of Boston and noting that a trip to the country, “100 miles by train and 40 by auto” had prevented a speedier reply. A good autograph letter from Coolidge’s career in Boston, shortly before the events that thrust him into national prominence and prompted his nomination as vice president
