Original red cloth, gilt-lettered spine. Fine copy.PRESENTATION COPY of this rare and charming book of angling songs, inscribed by Blakey on the title page: "With the Author's kind regards to His Excellency Mr. Sylvain de Weyer, 1855." Blakey was an angling author whose HINTS ON ANGLING, WITH SUGGESTIONS FOR ANGLING EXCURSIONS IN FRANCE AND BELGIUM appeared in 1846, which Blakey wrote with his wife while living in Belgium. De Weyer was a diplomat who served for a while in London as a special envoy, and later became the Belgian Minister for Foreign Affairs. He also shared an interest in philosophy with Blakey, who for a while taught philosophy at the University of Belfast, and wrote HISTORY OF MORAL SCIENCE, and A HISTORY OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF MIND Westwood & Satchell, p. 34.
